A man in his 30s, referred to as A, was caught searching for liquid cannabis in a flowerbed in a residential area of Seoul and is currently under police investigation. A is reported to be the son of a member of the People Power Party.
The Seocho Police Station stated on the 28th that A has been registered as a suspect without detention for attempted violation of the Narcotics Control Act regarding cannabis.
A is suspected of attempting to find liquid cannabis buried in a flowerbed of a building in Seocho District last October using the so-called "throwing" method along with two acquaintances. Throwing refers to a transaction method where drugs are hidden in a specific location and the buyer retrieves them.
Police responded to reports stating that "suspicious individuals appear to be searching for drugs," and upon arriving at the scene, they discovered liquid cannabis and apprehended A and his companions after analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
A is reported to have stated during the investigation that he went to the scene to obtain cannabis from an acquaintance but could not find it. It is also said that a preliminary drug test showed a negative response. Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances, including whether drug use occurred.
