Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, investigating the bridge collapse at a highway construction site in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, are conducting a search and seizure operation on the 28th targeting the construction companies and others.
The Gyeonggi Employment and Labor Office announced that they are conducting search and seizures at the headquarters and field offices of the original and subcontractors, as well as the ordering party, in conjunction with the Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency starting from 9:30 a.m.
The construction company is Hyundai Engineering, while the ordering party is the Korea Expressway Corporation. The subcontractors include Jangheon Construction and Gangsan Development.
The search and seizure related to the accident that occurred on the 25th is the first to take place today. It occurred three days after the accident.
The search and seizure operation involved 75 participants, including 43 police investigators and 32 inspectors from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor plan to determine the cause of the bridge collapse through this search and seizure operation.
Earlier, around 9:49 a.m. on the 25th, a girder, which is a structural component of the bridge deck, collapsed at a highway construction site in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province. The accident resulted in four deaths and six injuries, totaling ten casualties.
