Police have launched an investigation into illegal wholesalers who sold flight reservation information of celebrities, including BTS, for money.
According to police on the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Cyber Investigation Unit is investigating a Hong Kong airline employee, identified as A, who sold boarding information for dozens of celebrities.
A allegedly searched for boarding information by entering the names and birth dates of celebrities into a work program that allows access to boarding data from airlines worldwide.
The information that A sold for money is reported to be about 1,000 cases, with the revenue exceeding 10 million won.
A is reported to have said, "I initially obtained the boarding information at the request of an acquaintance, and later sold it for money."
Police are tracking individuals who disseminate flight ticket information and receive money, in addition to A.
