The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Government Building Management Headquarters announced on the 25th that it will open the rooftop garden of the government building for free starting March 1.

The government has opened the Sejong Government Building rooftop from March to June and September to December each year. The openings are paused during extremely hot or cold periods to prevent safety accidents before resuming.

The rooftop garden was listed in the Guinness Book as 'the largest rooftop garden in the world' in 2016. It features a consolidation of 15 individual buildings connected by aerial bridges. Visitors can see various plants and specialized spaces by building.

Visitors can tour the rooftop garden three times a day, with each session covering one of three routes. The first session (10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) starts from Building 6 to Building 1 over a distance of 1.4 km, featuring themes such as medicinal plants and hydrangea gardens. The second session (1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.) is the longest at 1.6 km, starting from Building 6 and heading toward Building 13 in the opposite direction of the first session. The third session (3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.) covers a distance of 1.4 km from Building 11 to Building 15.

The rooftop garden is open for free. If you wish to visit, you can make a reservation online through Naver (50 people per session) or register on-site on the day of your visit (no limit on the number of persons). On-site registration requires visitors for sessions 1 and 2 to visit Building 6 (General Information Building) and session 3 visitors to visit the registration area at Building 11 at least 30 minutes before the start of the tours.

All visitors must present an identification card as the Sejong Government Building is a national security facility. The entrance of beverages and food, except for water, is restricted.

Kim Ki-young, the head of the Government Building Management Headquarters, noted, 'We will strive to ensure that more people can visit the Sejong Government Building rooftop garden, a tourist attraction in Sejong City, safely and conveniently.'
