Police are investigating the identity of Ahn Mo (42), who participated in a rally against President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment dressed as 'Captain America' from the American Hollywood Marvel series.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official noted at a regular press briefing on the morning of the 24th that '(Ahn) was arrested on the 22nd for breaking into the Namdaemun Police Station's civil service office and trying to enter the Chinese Embassy in Korea.'
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 20th, Ahn was apprehended after attempting to break a glass door at the police station when his request for a fast investigation was denied.
The police stated that '(Ahn) is not currently a U.S. citizen. It has been confirmed that he was discharged as a sergeant in the army,' and added, 'We are verifying family statements in addition to his own.' Ahn claimed he was a 'black operative' who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and that he was the source of a report regarding the 'arrest of 99 Chinese spies' by a media outlet.
On the 14th, Ahn was arrested as a flagrant offender while attempting to sneak into the front gate of the Chinese Embassy in Korea during opening hours. On the 10th, he disrupted the elevator use in a meeting of the National Human Rights Commission that was discussing a motion to ensure the right to defense in President Yoon's Constitutional Court impeachment proceedings. Ahn wore the Captain America costume on both the 10th and the 14th.
