In the 2025 medical school regular admission process, a 15-year-old teenager has been accepted into two medical colleges. It is reported that this boy's future aspiration is to be a medical scientist researching areas such as new drug development.
According to the education sector on the 22nd, Kim Do-yoon (15) has been accepted into the Catholic University of Korea's pre-med program during the 2025 medical school regular admission process. Kim is reportedly born in May 2010 and has also been accepted into the pre-med program at Sungkyunkwan University.
It is said that Kim won a gold medal in the middle school mathematics Olympiad while in the fifth grade of elementary school and completed high school mathematics and science courses in the first year of middle school. After dropping out of middle school, Kim has been receiving education from his parents and learning freely. Last year, he received perfect scores in both the middle school and high school equivalency exams.
Kim stated, "I had many conversations with my parents about topics I was curious about," and added, "I think I was able to study by thinking for myself and looking things up during the online classes experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic." He continued, "I mostly took online lectures, including EBS lectures, and for subjects without online classes, I attended in-person lectures at a school preparing for the college entrance exam."
Kim dreams of becoming a medical scientist by studying basic medicine in medical school. He emphasized, "Having experienced the COVID-19 pandemic during my elementary school years, I developed a strong interest in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases," and added, "I want to become a medical scientist researching basic medicine or new drug development."
