On the 20th, law firm Sejong announced that it has recruited former Seoul High Court judges Cho Chan-young (29th Judicial Research and Training Institute), Kim Se-jong (30th), and Kwon Yang-hee (30th), who was the chief judge of the Suwon District Court and the Suwon Family Court.
Former judge Cho Chan-young retired after working in various courts such as the Daegu District Court, Seoul Southern District Court, Seoul High Court, and Gwangju District Court, ending with the administrative division (taxes and land expropriation) of the Seoul High Court. He was regarded as a leading expert on Japanese law within the court and handled numerous labor cases as well as administrative and taxes cases during his nine years as a high court judge. He managed cases including an appeal regarding the corporate ordinary wage of A Automobile and an appeal concerning the cancellation of penalties due to B Bank's violation of internal control standards.
Former judge Kim Se-jong served as a judicial support officer in the court administration division and was a high court judge in the criminal division 1 (corruption) and civil divisions 14 (commercial and corporations law) and 20 (construction) of the Seoul High Court from 2018 until last February. After donning the judicial robe in 2001, he worked at the Seoul Central District Court, Daegu District Court, Incheon District Court, among others. He also held positions such as head of the Supreme Court Sentencing Committee Support Division and judicial support officer in the court administration division. He handled various corporate cases, including the bribery case of a former president.
Former chief judge Kwon Yang-hee of the Suwon District Court and the Suwon Family Court has handled family and inheritance trials involving divorce, property division, inheritance, and adult guardianship for several years. In addition to inheritance cases, she addressed adult guardianship cases for representatives of medium-sized corporations and juvenile protection cases. In 2014, she was selected as a family law specialist and participated in the drafting team for the annotated civil law (inheritance section) and family practice guidelines. Kwon plans to join the Sejong family and inheritance dispute specialist team, leveraging her relevant experience.
Director General Oh Jong-han noted, "The addition of three chief judges with expertise and skills in various fields such as commercial, labor, criminal, and family law is expected to further strengthen Sejong's litigation capabilities," and stated, "We will provide customers with even more differentiated legal services."
