Daegu Suseong District announced on the 20th that it has completed the construction of the 'Sanghwa Mountain public restroom remodeling' which will be linked to the tourist resources to be established at Suseong Lake.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Suseong District designed the public restroom remodeling by incorporating curved structures and a natural wood design to harmonize with the scenery of Suseong Lake.

The interior features curved glass windows and circular washbasins to differentiate it from the existing public restroom.

The remodeling was handled by Spanish architect Daniel Valle.

Suseong District invested a total of 900 million won (government funds), including construction expenses of 588 million won.

Some critics argue that this amounts to an excessive expense.

A council member from Suseong District said, "Is it appropriate to invest an expense of 900 million won, which is equivalent to the value of a local apartment, in remodeling a public restroom?"

A Suseong District official noted, "This is not merely a remodeling of a public restroom," adding, "It will be utilized in connection with future tourist resources planned to be developed, including the water stage at Suseong Lake and Skybridge."
