A smoke incident occurred at Gongdeok Station in Mapo District, Seoul, on the morning of the 17th, resulting in a power outage. Smoke originated from the station's substation, but it did not lead to a fire. The airport railroad trains that were not stopping at this station resumed normal operations about two hours after the incident.
The airport railroad announced at 11:34 a.m. that "the smoke and power outage situation at Gongdeok Station has been resolved,” and stated that “trains on all sections of the airport railroad have been operating normally since 11:15 a.m." Due to this incident, 26 trains in both sections of the airport railroad passed through this station without stopping. The airport railroad confirmed that there were no issues following test operations.
At around 9:28 a.m. that day, the fire authority received a report stating that "there is a burning smell at Gongdeok Station." The Mapo Fire Station dispatched 15 firefighting equipment units and 54 DAEWON personnel to the station for on-site response. The fire authority reported that smoke occurred in the internal substation and is investigating the exact cause.
A fire official noted, "There was no fire, so there were no evacuations or injuries."
