Amid the controversy over the posting of obscene material in an internet cafe where Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae and his high school alumni are members, Acting Justice Moon requested the police to investigate this cafe.
The Constitutional Court conveyed Acting Justice Moon's position in a press release distributed on the 13th, stating, "This cafe is an alumni cafe, and I hope the police actively investigate this, and thoroughly investigate the hacking of the cafe as well."
Earlier, a media outlet reported on the 11th that obscene photos and writings had been posted for years in the online cafe for the 15th alumni of Daeya High School in Jinju, Gyeongnam, from which Acting Justice Moon graduated. Acting Justice Moon is also a member of this cafe. However, it is said that he did not leave comments or anything on the obscene material.
In relation to this, lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin of the People Power Party wrote in a Facebook post the day before, "The Constitutional Court judge turned a blind eye to the scene where more than 2,000 illegal obscene materials were posted and circulated," adding, "We cannot leave the impeachment trial of the current president to a perverted double-faced person. The investigative agency must immediately begin an investigation."
Some netizens posted photos and writings that demean Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, in the high school alumni cafe where Acting Justice Moon is a member. They also found a condolence notice for Moon's mother to obtain his mobile phone number, sending him hateful text messages.
However, it is uncertain whether, as Acting Justice Moon mentioned, the netizens hacked the cafe. This cafe allows free registration, and once a member, one becomes a junior member. Then, they can post on the general bulletin board. However, the bulletin board where obscene material was posted can only be viewed by full members.
