Director and actor Yang Ik-joon has been accused of assault by a junior.
The Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on the 10th that Yang is under investigation for assault charges.
Yang is accused of hitting the head of a junior film staff member, identified as A, multiple times with a wad of paper and making abusive remarks at his pub in Seongbuk District on Dec. 13 last year.
The police received the complaint on Dec. 30 last year. The investigation is in the final stages and is expected to be transferred to the prosecution today or tomorrow.
Yang gained recognition for his feature debut film 'Crimson Butterfly' in 2009, taking on three roles as director, screenwriter, and lead actor, which garnered attention in the domestic film industry.
He has since appeared in dramas such as 'It's Okay, That's Love', 'Queen of Mystery', and 'Bad Guys', as well as the Netflix original series 'Hell'.
