Go Gi-dong, the acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said on the morning of the 10th regarding the explosion accident that occurred at the United Terminal Korea factory in Ulsan's Ulju County, 'Firefighting, police, and local governments should mobilize all available personnel and equipment to fully commit to fire suppression.'
According to the National Fire Agency, a report was received at around 11:15 a.m. that a liquid cargo storage tank exploded at the United Terminal Korea factory in Cheoyong-ri, Onsan-eup, Ulju County, Ulsan.
Firefighters arrived at the explosion site around 11:26 a.m. They subsequently issued the first stage of response at 11:34 a.m. and the second stage at 11:38 a.m. The second stage of response involved mobilizing 51 to 80 pieces of equipment from 8 to 14 fire stations.
Afterwards, firefighters downgraded the response to the first stage after initial treatment at 1:33 p.m.
As of now, it is reported that 2 people have sustained serious injuries in the explosion accident.
Acting Minister Go said, 'Please do your best to ensure that no accidents occur to firefighters during the fire suppression process.'
