The Ministry of Education announced on the 6th that it will conduct the 'second recruitment for agreement-based specialized high schools' by April 24.
Agreement-based specialized high schools are institutions that cultivate talent needed in the local area through agreements between local governments, education offices, local corporations, and specialized high schools. It was first introduced last year, selecting 10 schools.
The Ministry of Education plans to select around 10 agreement-based specialized high schools by June this year, aiming to expand to a total of 35 schools by 2027.
Those selected as agreement-based specialized high schools can receive up to 4.5 billion won in support over five years. They can also autonomously structure and operate their education curriculum according to the agreement.
Specialized high schools wishing to transition to agreement-based specialized high schools must establish plans in cooperation with related institutions such as local governments, education offices, local corporations, and universities and submit them to the Ministry of Education.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joo-ho said, "The agreement-based specialized high schools selected last year are innovating to transform schools to cultivate local talent by integrating with the community," and added, "I expect various models that nurture excellent technical talent will emerge in this recruitment as well."
