President Yoon Suk-yeol left the courtroom during the impeachment trial on the 6th, being absent for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Since the third session held on the 21st of last month, President Yoon had attended the court in person, remaining present from start to finish. President Yoon's legal representatives noted, 'It seemed unnecessary for him to be here in court since he rested in the waiting room during the lengthy trial.'
On this day, President Yoon attended the sixth hearing of his impeachment trial held at the Constitutional Court. During this hearing, testimonies were conducted from former special forces commander Kwak Jong-geun, who was summoned by the National Assembly, and witnesses from President Yoon's side including Kim Hyun-tae, the commander of the Army Special Warfare Command's 707th Special Mission Battalion, and Park Chun-seob, the head of the economic affairs office in the presidential office. The Constitutional Court decided to hold hearings from morning until the eighth hearing date.
President Yoon remained present until the testimonies of Chief Kim Hyun-tae and former Commander Kwak Jong-geun. After a brief recess, when the hearing resumed at 4:25 p.m., President Yoon was not present in the courtroom. He was absent throughout Park Chun-seob's testimony as well. He did not appear until approximately 6 p.m. when the hearing concluded.
In response, President Yoon's legal representative stated, '(President Yoon) is in good health,' adding, 'There is no special reason; he was just momentarily in the waiting room due to the lengthy trial.' Hwang Kyo-ahn, the newly appointed legal representative for President Yoon, met with reporters after the hearing and mentioned that President Yoon believed, 'It seemed unnecessary for him to be here.'
