The Ministry of Employment and Labor said on the 5th that it will support the purchase costs for equipment, facilities, and supplies to prevent heat-related illnesses for vulnerable workplaces in collaboration with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. The total amount of support is 20 billion won.
The targeted business sites include construction, shipbuilding, logistics and distribution, and waste management industries. According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, heat-related occupational accidents occur more frequently in these sites compared to other industries.
The support equipment and limits vary by the size of the business site. The purchase costs for heat-related illness prevention equipment such as portable air conditioners, industrial fans, and shade structures are targeted at business sites with fewer than 50 regular employees. A maximum of 70% of the purchase costs, up to 20 million won, will be supported for the business owner.
Additionally, business sites with fewer than 100 employees can receive support for the purchase costs of equipment such as industrial cooling fans, jet fans, and ceiling fans. For establishments with fewer than 50 employees, the support is up to 30 million won at 70%, and for those with 50 to fewer than 100 employees, it is up to 30 million won at 50%.
The government will accept applications for support of heat-related illness prevention equipment and supplies from 12 p.m. on the day until 6 p.m. on March 7. Interested parties can check the business announcement on the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Clean Business Site Support website and apply online or via fax.
