Korean history instructor Jeon Hangil has joined the 'Public Defense Team for President Yoon Suk-yeol' (hereinafter referred to as the Public Defense Team).
According to President Yoon Suk-yeol's legal team on the 5th, Jeon joined the Public Defense Team today and posted a greeting on the free speech bulletin board of the homepage.
In his greeting, Jeon stated, "I witnessed the atrocities of the Democratic Party trying to sink the liberal democracy of the Republic of Korea through the destruction of democracy," adding, "I decided to step forward even at a loss and being criticized."
He further noted, "I believe that opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol and unconditionally restoring his duty to recover the national system is the alternative that will save the Republic of Korea and the 2030 generation along with the citizens."
The Public Defense Team is known to be an online platform organized on the 3rd by Yoon's legal team, including lawyer Seok Dong-hyun, to rally support. As of 11 a.m. that day, the number of members exceeded 55,000.
Although anyone can join the Public Defense Team's website, they must select the option "Yes, I oppose and hope for the President's return" in response to the question, "Do you oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol?"
Additionally, the form includes fields for name, date of birth, gender, special skills, address, and mobile phone number, which must undergo real-name verification by a telecommunications company. It is interpreted that this will be used for future signature campaigns and petitions.
The Public Defense Team's website regularly features opinions from the President's legal team, including content stating, "The impeachment trial is worse than the trial of a noble."
There is also a separate bulletin board where members can freely discuss and share information about rallies and fake news.
Meanwhile, the Public Defense Team is headed by Lawyer Seok Dong-hyun. It is reported that an inauguration ceremony will be held mid-month, and rallies, regional tours, and station-specific picketing are planned.
