After the fifth argument of the impeachment trial, President Yoon Seok-yeol's side stated, "I have not instructed the disruption of power supply to media companies."
On the 4th, Yoon's attorney, Yoon Gap-geun, claimed after finishing the impeachment trial, "There is no reason to disrupt the power supply to media companies and opinion poll flowers."
The indictment document from the prosecution, which was made public the previous day, contained circumstances showing that just before the declaration of martial law, President Yoon instructed former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min to 'block the Hankyoreh, Kyunghyang, MBC, JTBC newspapers, and opinion poll flowers around 24:00; and to disrupt power supply through the Fire Agency.'
Attorney Yoon stated, "As far as I know, such a document does not exist," and added, "The president clearly instructed not to send military forces to the Democratic Party or the opinion poll flowers and I have never seen former Minister Lee's testimony that he instructed the disruption of power supply."
He also claimed, "As they keep fabricating objectively incorrect situations, it leads to absurdities."
Attorney Yoon also commented on the testimony of Hong Jang-won, the first deputy director of the National Intelligence Service, saying, "There were portions of the statements made by some witnesses that were incorrect."
Meanwhile, the National Assembly pointed out that President Yoon's disclosure that he directly instructed the Central Election Commission to deploy military forces in the trial court that day was a serious violation of the constitution.
Kim Jin-han, the National Assembly's attorney, criticized, "The president either did not know that the Election Commission is a constitutional organization that cannot be recklessly acted upon even during martial law, or he made these remarks while pretending not to know, which itself constitutes a serious violation of the constitution."
Choi Gi-sang, a member of the Democratic Party, which is the impeachment prosecution group, pointed out regarding President Yoon's remark that "the martial law was swiftly lifted and nothing happened," saying, "One could feel how detached the respondent's perception of the martial law is from the public's sense of law."
