A man in his 50s, dissatisfied with the investigation related to President Yoon Suk-yeol, was handed over to prosecutors while in custody after attempting self-immolation in front of the Supreme Court.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station stated on the 3rd that it has sent a man in his 50s, referred to as A, to detention on charges of preparing to set fire to a public structure on the 31st of last month.
According to police, A caused a disturbance around 11:30 p.m. on the 23rd of last month in front of the Supreme Court building, saying, "I will self-immolate." At the time of his arrest, A was intoxicated, and there were flammable materials next to him intended for setting himself on fire.
A reportedly stated in a police investigation that he went there out of dissatisfaction with the prosecution's investigation into President Yoon Suk-yeol. Both the attempted arson and self-immolation were unsuccessful, and A and the Supreme Court building did not incur any damage.
