On the 3rd, the police launched a search and seizure operation on the Presidential Security Service.
The Emergency Military Special Investigation Team of the Korean National Police Agency stated through a media release that they are attempting to conduct a search and seizure operation on the office of Vice Administrator Kim Sung-hoon and Deputy Minister Lee Kwang-woo.
Investigators dispatched to the scene are on standby for the search and seizure operation, and it is expected that they will enter discussions regarding the search with officials from the security service.
Minister Kim and Deputy Minister Lee are facing allegations of abuse of power under the Special Law on the Protection of the President and the Presidential Security Law for obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant against President Yoon Suk-yeol last month, along with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the police. The two are noted as hardliners who argued that they should obstruct the execution of the president's arrest warrant by any means, including the use of physical force, alongside Kim Shin, the head of the Family Department.
The police applied for arrest warrants for Vice Administrator Kim and Deputy Minister Lee last month, but the prosecution rejected all requests, demanding supplementary investigations.
