The 2025 Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival attracted 1.86 million visitors. It successfully achieved the best attendance in history and concluded on the 2nd.
On the 3rd, Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province announced that more than 1.86 million tourists visited this year's festival, which opened on the 11th and ran for 23 days.
This marks an increase of over 20,000 visitors compared to 1.84 million in 2019, with the number of foreign tourists totaling about 122,000, surpassing last year's figure of about 85,000.
The unusually long Lunar New Year holiday is believed to have contributed to the record-breaking attendance. Hwacheon County's efforts in localized marketing in Southeast Asia also played a role in achieving this record.
Choi Moon-soon, the mayor of Hwacheon, said, "Thanks to everyone who gave their best from dawn to night, on the ice, underwater, and in unseen places, the festival could be concluded safely and successfully."
