On the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday on the 30th, all passenger ferries connecting Incheon and the island regions will operate normally. Earlier, operations had been disrupted due to adverse weather conditions in the Yellow Sea during the holiday period.
According to the Incheon operation management center of the Korea Maritime Traffic Safety Authority, all 16 passenger ferries on 14 routes connecting Incheon’s inland with the island regions, including Incheon to Baengnyeongdo, Incheon to Yeonpyeongdo, Incheon to Deokjeokdo, Incheon to Ijakdo, and Incheon to Yukdo and Pongdo, are expected to operate normally.
Earlier, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a strong wind warning in the early hours of the 27th at around 2 a.m. Consequently, operations on 11 out of the 14 routes connecting Incheon’s inland with the islands were disrupted. This strong wind warning was lifted at 8 p.m. the previous day.
The Incheon regional maritime affairs and fisheries office projected that about 3,500 passengers would travel between Incheon and the island regions throughout the day.
An official from the Incheon operation management center said, “Passengers are advised to check the operational status before arriving at the dock.”
