Minister Ko Ki-dong, acting head of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, issued an urgent directive on the night of the 28th regarding the aircraft fire that occurred at Gimhae Airport in Busan, saying, "Firefighters, police, and local governments should mobilize all available personnel and equipment to focus efforts on extinguishing the fire."
Ko also said, "Please do your best to ensure that no safety accidents occur among firefighters during the firefighting process."
Around 10:26 p.m. on that day, a fire broke out at the rear of AIR BUSAN flight BX(ABL)391, which was preparing to take off for Hong Kong, carrying 169 passengers and 7 crew members at Gimhae Airport's apron. When the fire broke out, all passengers and crew used the slides to make an emergency evacuation, resulting in no major casualties, although it was reported that 2 individuals sustained minor injuries during the evacuation.
Fire authorities responded upon receiving the report and extinguished the fire around 11:31 p.m.
