Police began their investigation into the fire incident involving an AIR BUSAN aircraft at Gimhae Airport on the 29th. After examining the initial point of ignition and electrical equipment, they plan to decide whether to apply criminal negligence charges against the airline.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Mobile Unit announced that they started the investigation into the AIR BUSAN aircraft fire incident at Gimhae Airport in Gangseo District of Busan on that day. The police will conduct a joint examination with the fire authorities and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's aircraft incidents investigation committee around 10 a.m. on the 30th.
The police plan to establish an investigation headquarters to examine baggage handling regulations, issues with the aircraft's electrical systems, and other factors. Given that Gimhae Airport is a military airport, they also plan to investigate whether there are any suspicions of terrorism or espionage. However, it has been reported that there have been no indications suggesting terrorism thus far.
According to the police and fire authorities, a fire broke out near the tail of AIR BUSAN flight BX391, which was preparing to take off for Hong Kong with 176 individuals on board (169 passengers and 7 crew members) around 10:15 p.m. the previous day, prompting all to escape using emergency slides. Currently, there are 7 reported injuries, all of which are minor. The police and fire authorities have secured statements from the crew that they saw smoke and flames in the aircraft's overhead compartments and are working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
