Famous chef Choi Hyun-seok participated in a rice cake soup sharing event on the 26th, the second day of the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Chef Choi prepared the rice cake soup sharing event at the Seoul Station's goshiwon in Dongja-dong, Yongsan-gu, on this day, in collaboration with the Seoul Station Goshiwon Counseling Center.
Chef Choi, his assistant chefs, and counseling center staff prepared rice cake soup for 200 residents from early in the morning. They also arranged side dishes such as zucchini pancakes and meatballs from nearby shops. Chef Choi noted, "As someone who lives by food, I believe we should share through food," adding, "I hope they feel happy, like when a grandchild or son visits during the holidays."
Around the serving time at 11 a.m., the counseling center's parking lot was filled with goshiwon residents. One resident approached Chef Choi and expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for coming to this difficult neighborhood and not being able to rest on a holiday…"
After serving the rice cake soup, Chef Choi and counseling center staff also delivered it directly to elderly residents who had difficulty moving.
