The Seoul city government announced on the 26th that it will initiate emergency snow removal measures due to a heavy snow advisory issued for the entire area of Seoul.

According to the Seoul city government, snowfall is expected to start in Seoul from midnight to 6 a.m. on the 27th, with significant accumulation of 10 to 20 centimeters anticipated between 6 a.m. and noon, raising the likelihood of a heavy snow advisory being in effect across the metropolitan area.

From the night of the 27th, temperatures will drop below freezing, leading to the formation of black ice on roads and concerns about icy conditions.

The Seoul city government plans to issue the first stage of snow removal measures starting at 10 p.m. on the 26th to thoroughly prepare through equipment inspections, and will elevate to the second stage of snow removal measures starting at 7 a.m. on the 27th.

When the second stage is issued, 9,685 personnel and 1,424 pieces of equipment will be deployed to respond to the snowfall, spreading snow-melting agents and conducting snow removal operations to clear snow piled on the roads.

Additionally, automatic snow removal equipment, such as heated wires and automatic saltwater spraying devices, will be activated immediately in vulnerable freezing areas, while patrols will be strengthened at entrances and exits of underpasses and on steep slopes, with snow-melting agents being applied to prevent accidents caused by icy roads.
