Song Min-ho (31), a member of the group Winner, appeared before the police for questioning regarding allegations of deficient service while working as a social service agent.
According to the police on the 24th, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul summoned Song on the morning of the 23rd regarding allegations of violating the Military Service Act and conducted an investigation. Song is reported to have stated that he served properly. Whether further summons for questioning will occur is undecided.
Previously, it has come to light that while working as a social service agent at a community convenience facility in Mapo District, Seoul, Song allegedly failed to attend work properly or was excluded from key duties such as responding to civil complaints.
The police, having received a request for investigation from the Military Manpower Administration, have registered Song under the suspicion of violating the Military Service Act. They are continuing the investigation by conducting searches at the facility where Song worked and securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
The Military Manpower Administration stated that if there are issues with Song's service, they will cancel his discharge and he will need to re-serve for the duration of the problematic period. As allegations concerning Song have emerged, political circles are moving to establish measures to prevent recurrence. The Seoul City government conducted an urgent comprehensive inspection of the service status of social service agents targeting affiliated organizations. On the 6th, political circles also proposed the 'Song Min-ho Prevention Act,' which would electronically manage the attendance of social service agents.
