On the 20th, which is the solar term Daehan (大寒) indicating the arrival of big cold, relatively warm weather will continue. This week, as a result of a mobile high-pressure system, the cold will ease, and the daytime high temperature will exceed 10 degrees Celsius in most regions of the country. Occasional snow and rain are expected.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the lowest temperature is expected to be between -5 degrees Celsius and 2 degrees Celsius, while the highest temperature is forecasted to be between 6 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius. The lowest and highest temperatures will be 1 and 8 degrees Celsius in Seoul, 0 and 9 degrees Celsius in Gwangju, and 2 and 11 degrees Celsius in Busan. On the 21st, the lowest will be between -5 degrees Celsius and 2 degrees Celsius, and the highest between 6 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius. On the 23rd, the lowest will be between -6 degrees Celsius and 3 degrees Celsius, and the highest between 5 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius.
Due to the influence of a pressure trough, snow and rain are expected primarily in the central region on this day. In the metropolitan area and Chungcheong region, rain or snow will fall until the day, while in the Gangwon region, it will occur until the evening. The expected snowfall is less than 1 cm in the metropolitan area, Gangwon region, Chungcheong region, and Gyeongsang region. In Gangwon Yeongdong, snow and rain are anticipated between the 24th and 25th, while the eastern coast of North Gyeongsang Province and the northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang will experience snow and rain on the 25th.
On this day, the fine dust concentration will be 'bad' in the metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, Honam region, Daegu, and Jeju. The remaining regions will be at a 'normal' level. Since there will be dense fog in Incheon and the western coast of Gyeonggi Province, and northern Chungcheong Province until the morning, caution should be exercised for traffic safety.
