The Army Special Warfare Command stated that claims regarding a special forces vehicle moving with a large amount of lethal ammunition the morning after the declaration of martial law on 4th, following the National Assembly's decision to lift it, are “not true.”
The Special Warfare Command stated in a statement released in the afternoon of the 16th that “the vehicle was transporting winter supplies, including clothing items, as the dispatched troops did not have winter clothing.”
Earlier, Democratic Party lawmaker Park Seon-won released closed-circuit television footage taken at around 1:52 a.m. on Dec. 4 of last year at the entrance of the underground passage of the Yeoui Sinwol Interchange, asserting, “This is the weapon and ammunition vehicle of the 9th Airborne Brigade moving to Seoul 50 minutes after the National Assembly's resolution to lift the martial law. There are suspicions that 2nd and 3rd martial laws were being conspired.”
Lawmaker Park noted, “The vehicle was loaded with about 27,000 rounds of weapons. Lethal ammunition was being transported,” and added that the destination of the vehicle was “public opinion survey flowers.”
The Special Warfare Command rebutted, saying, “The vehicle did not go to a certain opinion polling agency after receiving the order to return to the unit during movement, but instead turned back and returned to the unit.”
