Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon noted on the 15th that President Yoon Suk-yeol is being investigated by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) after being arrested on charges of being the leader of a rebellion. He stated that "it is desirable for the CIO to refrain from the investigation of the president and to conduct it in a non-arrested state."
On the same day, Mayor Oh posted on Facebook an article titled "The president's investigation must now proceed according to legal procedures."
In this post, he expressed that he felt a heavy sense of responsibility upon witnessing the unprecedented arrest of a sitting president, stating, "The CIO has been causing numerous controversies over legal violations during the investigation process, thereby dividing public opinion."
He added, "From now on, it is important to have legal procedures that the people can agree upon."
Mayor Oh said, "(The president) poses no flight risk, and most of the relevant individuals have been secured." He added, "Today, the security office did not prevent the entry of arrest personnel." He continued, "There is no reasonable justification for aggressively securing the individual other than to 'humiliate' him," and urged law enforcement to follow legal procedures without being swayed by the pressure from the Democratic Party.
