The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 14th that it will sell seasonal goods for the Lunar New Year and agricultural and marine products with discounts of up to 30% at 60 traditional markets in the city. To enhance citizen convenience, it will increase the number of free parking markets from the current 33 to 73.
The traditional markets participating in the discounts include Cheongnyangni Traditional Market (Dongdaemun District), Banghak-dong Dokkebi Market (Dobong District), Hwajeong Central Market (Gangseo District), Sinyoung Market (Yangcheon District), and Suyu Traditional Market (Gangbuk District). Twenty-six other markets, including Yongmun Market (Yongsan District) and Meongok Market (Gwangjin District), will offer discounts of up to 30% online. From the 20th of this month until the 28th of next month, orders placed through three online sites, such as "Come Visit the Market," will be delivered to customers' doorsteps.
From the 23rd to the 27th, the city will return up to 30% of the amount spent on purchasing seafood and agricultural products at 47 traditional markets in the form of Onnuri gift certificates. Song Ho-jae, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Labor and Welfare Bureau, said, "We aim to alleviate the burden on citizens and small business owners who are struggling due to high prices and sluggish consumption."
