On the morning of the 14th, snow and rain that fell overnight froze in various parts of Seoul, leading to a series of accidents caused by icy roads.
Around 6:07 a.m. on the same day, multiple collisions occurred on the road from the entrance of Wolgye Station to the Nokcheon Junggyo overpass on Madllo Road in Nowon District due to icy conditions. According to the district office, multiple collisions occurred at four locations on this road, involving a total of 18 vehicles. One man in his 30s experienced waist pain and was transported to the hospital. The district applied de-icing agents to the accident-prone road, which was initially closed but reopened around 8 a.m.
Also, around 8 a.m., a 1-ton truck collided with two vehicles on the National Assembly road in front of the National Assembly in Yeongdeungpo District, injuring one man in his 50s. During this process, the truck struck the wall of a nearby building and came to a stop. Black ice was reportedly found at the accident site. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
Additionally, a four-vehicle collision occurred near Sungui Girls' High School in Dongjak District at 8:23 a.m., and at 7:42 a.m. in Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong District, three city buses and one tour bus collided in a bus-only lane, although there were no injuries. Scenes of pedestrians slipping on roads and sidewalks were also witnessed throughout the city.
