Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said on the 12th, "The Democratic Party should either remove 'Democratic' from its name or change it to 'Democratic Security Party.'"
The Democratic Party's Representative Jeon Yong-gi raised the issue of his statement on the 10th, saying, "Distributing fake news through online communities or KakaoTalk is enough to be punished as incitement to insurrection," and added, "I will firmly report anyone, even if they are just ordinary citizens, for incitement to insurrection or fake news."
Mayor Oh noted in a post on social media (SNS) that "the opposition party, which has invited Kim Eo-jun to the National Assembly to provide a platform for spreading fake news, threatens to report ordinary people's KakaoTalk as fake news."
He stated, "Those who say we should abolish the National Security Law under the guise of freedom of expression are actually attempting to censor the private conversations of citizens," adding, "This could only be described as a harsh 'double standard.'"
Mayor Oh also said, "The opposition party's chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, who is supposed to play the role of prosecutor in the impeachment trial, is already talking about a death sentence for the president even before the procedures have commenced." He continued, "The president is presumed innocent, while the Democratic Party leader claims presumption of innocence even after the first trial verdict," stating, "The Democratic Party's human rights are a self-serving version of human rights."
He remarked, "During the last administration, President Moon Jae-in filed a defamation suit against a 30-something youth for distributing a flyer criticizing him," and asked, "Is it the DNA of the Democratic Party to shout about freedom of expression with a virtuous face in front, while gagging in the back?"
He added, "At this point, just as there is no democracy in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, there is no democracy in the Democratic Party," expressing concern that if the Lee Jae-myung administration is born, a new era of security governance will become a norm.
