On the 3rd, Lee Kwang-woo, the Deputy Minister of the Presidential Security Service, who is accused of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol, did not attend the police's second summons on the 10th.
The Special Investigation Team for the Martial Law situation, which is investigating the 12·3 martial law incident, noted that "the Deputy Minister has not attended as of now." The police had requested that the Deputy Minister appear by 2 p.m. that day.
The Deputy Minister has been charged with obstructing the execution of special official duties along with Park Jong-jun, the Minister of the Presidential Security Service; Kim Seong-hoon, the Vice Administrator of the security service; and Lee Jin-ha, the Head of the Security and Safety Division.
The police required these individuals to appear for questioning; however, except for Minister Park, who appeared at the Korean National Police Agency by the deadline for the third summons at 3 a.m., none have responded to the police's request. It is expected that the police will consider requesting a third appearance or applying for an arrest warrant against Deputy Minister Lee Kwang-woo.
Before his appearance at the police station, Minister Park met with reporters and said, "I decided from the beginning to respond to the police summons, but I came today because my legal team was somewhat delayed in its preparations. I believe that the investigation process should match the status of a sitting president. It is not the current procedure for executing an arrest warrant."
