In Hanam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, where rallies supporting President Yoon Suk-yeol and calls for impeachment are being held daily, the amount of trash generated per day has reportedly increased by 8 tons compared to before.
The Seoul City government stated on the 9th that the daily trash collection volume in Yongsan District rose from 593 tons to 601 tons, an increase of 8 tons, following the large-scale rallies.
On this day, the Seoul City government revealed its waste management plans for the Hanam-dong area, where large-scale rallies have been prolonged. First, they will allocate 334 cleaning staff and 58 cleaning equipment from Yongsan District as needed. To aid during hours when environmental workers are not on duty, specifically from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., the city will provide operational expenses to deploy an additional 10 cleanliness task force members.
Additionally, the Seoul City government will support expenses to handle the increased waste in Yongsan District. If deemed necessary, financial support for waste disposal will also be provided to Jongno District, where large-scale rallies are taking place near Gwanghwamun Square or the Constitutional Court.
