Actor Choi Jun-yong voiced opposition at a rally against President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment, leading netizens to flood the review section of a restaurant he is known to run, responding with a barrage of negative scores.
On the 3rd, Choi Jun-yong took the stage at the 'Rally Against the Impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol' held in front of Donghwa Duty-Free Shop in Jung-gu, Seoul. He said, “I feel honored to hold the microphone like this,” and added, “With the president in such a ruined state, how could I stay silent? Now that things have come to this, I won't hide anymore. I will step forward, support, and voice my opinion.”
He continued, “On Dec. 3 last year, a martial law was suddenly proclaimed, which shocked me, but what surprised me even more was that the martial law ended in just a few hours,” he noted. “Inwardly, I was a bit disappointed. If they were going to enact martial law, they should have done it properly instead of ending it like this. But as time passed, I thought, maybe I didn’t understand President Yoon's grand intentions.”
He said, “About a month has passed since martial law, and aren’t the anti-state forces the president always talks about stirring up trouble everywhere?” and added, “They are carrying placards saying ‘Impeach Yoon Suk Yeol, the leader of the rebellion.’ Why is the Chinese Communist Party doing such things in our country? Why would there be no spies in our country?”
He continued, “The Democratic Party lawmakers say, ‘When was the last time there was a spy?’ but how many spies have emerged from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions?” and emphasized, “They use the same terminology as used in North Korea and carry placards exactly as directed by North Korea. If they are not spies, then who are?”
Choi Jun-yong shouted, “They are holding (the president's impeachment) rallies in Hannam-dong without even permission,” and questioned, “Are those truly South Korean citizens? If you hate South Korea that much, then go to North Korea, you idiots.” He then encouraged supporters by saying, “President Yoon woke our people up,” and added, “Let's protect President Yoon until the end.”
Choi Jun-yong publicly supported President Yoon even before the 20th presidential election, appearing on the campaign scene. In May 2022, he attended the presidential inauguration ceremony held at the National Assembly Building in Yeouido, Seoul.
As Choi Jun-yong publicly supported President Yoon, netizens launched a comment attack on the reviews of a restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, known to be managed by him. The comments included, “Taste of rebellion at the pollack. A sharp aroma like a bullet,” “To taste two,” “Martial law flavor pollack. A businessman publicly supporting Yoon Suk Yeol means giving up on sales, right?” “The esteemed actor owner made controversial remarks this January. Probably won't visit again soon,” “Rebellion advocacy restaurant,” “Martial law taste from the pollack,” and “Disappointed.”
