Three people in cardiac arrest were transported to a public health clinic on Gageodo as a result of this accident but were pronounced dead by the resident public health doctor. The remaining 19 people were rescued by the Coast Guard and nearby civilian vessels, and none were reported to have life-threatening injuries.

It was reported that they jumped into the sea and waited for rescue when the stranded boat showed signs of capsizing.

The Coast Guard initially identified 21 people on the boat at the time of the accident, but it was later revealed that the actual number was one more, causing some confusion.

The Coast Guard suspects that the passengers, except for the captain, were not acquainted with each other and is investigating how they all came aboard the fishing boat. They are also investigating whether the submitted list of passengers before departure matches the actual passengers and if any false records were submitted.
