The joint investigation headquarters for emergency martial law announced on the 3rd that Park Jong-jun, Chief of the Presidential Security Service, and others were booked on charges of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The joint investigation headquarters, composed of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), police, and Ministry of National Defense investigative headquarters, stated on this day, "Today, we initiated the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon but failed to complete it due to the unlawful obstruction of official duties by the Presidential Security Service," and added, "The Emergency Martial Law Special Investigation Unit booked the Chief and Vice Minister of the Security Service on charges of special obstruction of official duties and demanded their appearance by tomorrow."
The CIO obtained an arrest warrant for President Yoon from the court on the 31st of last month. The arrest warrant is valid until the 6th. Accordingly, the CIO attempted to execute the arrest warrant for President Yoon with police support starting at around 8 a.m. today. However, they were blocked by the Presidential Security Service, resulting in a standoff for more than 5 hours, and they stopped the execution around 1:30 p.m.
