Lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party visited the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul on the morning of the 3rd, where the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is executing an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol. Currently, investigators from the CIO and police are in a standoff with the Presidential Security Service, which is attempting to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant inside the residence.
It is reported that on this day, after attending a rally near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong to encourage supporters, Lawmaker Yoon moved towards the residence. It has not been confirmed whether Yoon entered the interior of the residence.
On this day, Yoon posted on Facebook, saying, “The individuals who should be impeached are the illegal and extralegal CIO director and the judge in charge of warrants,” adding, “The CIO should immediately cease its reckless investigation attempts against the president.”
Yoon continued, “Executing an arrest warrant against a sitting president is an act that severely undermines the Constitution and the rule of law,” noting, “President Yoon still enjoys the 'status and position' of the head of the state, representing the people and the Republic of Korea.”
Yoon stated, “Until the Constitutional Court’s decision on impeachment is made, no one, or any institution, should hastily presume the court’s judgment or decision,” and added, “The CIO should observe the impeachment trial process of the Constitutional Court and await the outcome.”
