Police are conducting a search and seizure of the control tower at Muan Airport, Jeonnam, on the 2nd to investigate the cause of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
The Jeju Air passenger plane accident investigation headquarters of the South Jeolla Province Police Agency is executing a search warrant on the offices of the Korea Airports Corporation Muan International Airport department, the control tower, the Busan Regional Office of Aviation Muan Branch, and Jeju Air's Seoul office on this day. The police obtained a search warrant for charges of professional negligence resulting in death or injury. No one has been booked yet.
Police are securing data to confirm whether the localizer, a structure near the runway that collided with the accident aircraft, was properly installed, review communication content exchanged between the control tower and the pilot before the accident, including bird strike warnings and mayday signals, and check the maintenance history of the accident aircraft.
