Singer Kim Heung-guk, a representative 'conservative celebrity,' has appealed for support for President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Kim Heung-guk attended the 'Rally to Prevent Illegal Arrests in Front of the Presidential Residence,' held near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 2nd. Taking the stage, Kim noted, “I am attacked on YouTube every day. Someone calls me a 'martial law butterfly' and some mad person calls me a 'rebellion butterfly.' I really can't live like this.”

He continued, “This week is critical. To protect South Korea and President Yoon Suk Yeol, please gather your strength a little more; I believe if we unite, we can truly save South Korea.”

Currently, rallies are being held around the presidential residence, some calling for the execution of arrest warrants and others opposing it. On Oct. 31, the court issued an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol upon the request of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials, on charges of being a rebellion leader (head) and abuse of power. It is the first time in constitutional history that an arrest warrant has been issued for a sitting president.

Meanwhile, Kim Heung-guk has revealed his political orientation as a 'conservative celebrity' since the past. In the 18th general election in 2008, he publicly supported Hong Jung-wook, a candidate from the Grand National Party (the precursor to the People Power Party). During the 20th presidential election in 2022, he visited the campaign site for 20 days to support Yoon Suk Yeol, the People Power Party candidate.

In last year's 22nd general election, he campaigned in support of the People Power Party candidates, and in June of the same year, he received a plaque of appreciation as an entertainer supporting the People Power Party's general election. He also produced a documentary film, “And When the Magnolia Blooms,” about the life of President Park Chung-hee and First Lady Yuk Young-soo.
