Choyong-soo, a professor of emergency medicine at Jeonnam National University Hospital, posted on social media on the 30th that 'upon request, the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) was dispatched immediately and was gathering in the emergency room, fully prepared to receive critical patients.'

Choyong-soo continued, 'Not a single person was transported. Not a single person was able to be transported,' adding, 'Even those who desperately needed to return to the hospital ultimately could not. It is devastating. I extend my condolences to the deceased,' and attached a photo of black-and-white chrysanthemums.

The sense of loss among medical staff deepened with the news that Kim, 47, a fellow professor at Jeonnam National University Hospital, was among those who perished with family. It was confirmed that Professor Kim boarded with a pediatrician spouse and two children for a vacation.

At 9:03 a.m. on the 29th, Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand collided with a facility during the landing process at Muan Airport, resulting in a major disaster. Of the 181 passengers, 179 were confirmed dead, including 81 residents of Gwangju.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare issued 'Code Orange,' a level three disaster medical response, and promptly dispatched the disaster medical assistance team from Gwangju and Jeonnam to the scene, but it was found that most passengers died at the scene of the accident.
