The '2025 Countdown Show Light Now' festival, which was scheduled to be held in front of the Shinsegae Department Store headquarters on the night of the 31st to welcome the upcoming New Year, has been completely canceled.

Jung-gu decided this on the 30th to mourn the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash that happened on the 29th at Muan Airport in South Jeolla Province.

This event was planned to include K-pop celebration performances, countdown videos, and a fireworks show under the auspices of KBS. It was being prepared at two locations: Stage A in front of the Seoul Central Post Office and Stage B in the Fountain Square in front of the Shinsegae Department Store headquarters.

Scheduled to appear on Stage A were bands and artists such as Jannabi, Byul, Stella Jang, Choi Yoori, Kep1er, ALL(H)OURS, and NOWADAYS. On Stage B, performers such as Park Jin-young, 2am, Xdinary Heroes, xikers, BADVILLAIN, and SAY MY NAME were expected. The performances were anticipated to run from 11 p.m. onward on the 31st for approximately two hours. Applications for admission tickets were received from the 13th to the 23rd.

Jung-gu Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, "The sudden accident has left the entire nation in grief," and noted, "We determined that empathizing with and sharing the sorrow of the victims and their families is more important than the festival." Kim further expressed heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.

The government has designated a national mourning period until Jan. 4 of next year. During this period, Jung-gu plans to express condolences by having all employees wear mourning ribbons, lowering flags to half-staff, and postponing events such as New Year's receptions.
