The group calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, known as 'Emergency Action for Yoon's Immediate Resignation and Major Social Reform (hereafter Emergency Action for Resignation),' canceled the rally it planned to hold on the 31st. However, on Jan. 4, the last day of the national mourning period, a rally will proceed as scheduled.
Emergency Action for Resignation noted on the 30th, 'In order to mourn the victims of the recent tragedy, we are canceling the 'Adieu Yoon Suk-yeol Year-end Concert' scheduled for the 31st.' However, local events may proceed at the discretion of the organizers.
Instead, the group will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. on the 31st in front of the Government Complex Seoul. At the conference, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, who is also the Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, is expected to demand the immediate promulgation of the 'Special Prosecutor Act on Rebellion' and the 'Special Prosecutor Act on Kim Keon-hee' during a Cabinet meeting. If the court issues an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol, filed by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, there are plans to conduct 'Emergency Action for Yoon's Arrest' nationwide.
Emergency Action for Resignation will hold the '5th Citizen's March' at 4 p.m. on 4th at Dongshipjagak, Gwanghwamun, Seoul, demanding President Yoon's resignation along with a national mourning for the Jeju Air disaster.
The 'National Movement Headquarters for Establishing a Just Korea (NMHEJK),' led by Pastor Jun Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church and the Liberty Unification Party, has canceled all planned rallies opposing President Yoon's impeachment this week. The group has been holding daily rallies in front of the Dongwha Duty-Free Shop in Gwanghwamun, near the Constitutional Court, in front of the Seocho-dong court, and in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong.
