On the 29th at 9:03 a.m., weather conditions around Muan International Airport in Jeonnam, where an aircraft runway departure accident occurred, were found to be favorable with almost no wind.

According to the Korea meteorological Administration, the wind speed near Muan Airport around the time of the accident, 9 a.m., was approximately 1m/s. This wind speed indicates almost no wind, meaning it was very weak.

The visibility distance was also 9 km. Typically, fog reduces visibility to below 1 km. With a visibility of 9 km, there was no issue for the pilot in seeing ahead.

Clouds were slightly above 10 km from the ground. There was no precipitation, and the temperature was 1.5 degrees. It was clear weather with no rain, wind, or clouds.

Earlier, around 9:03 a.m. that day, Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, carrying a total of 181 people, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members, attempted to land at Muan International Airport with the landing gear not properly deployed and collided with a structure at the end of the airport, causing an explosion and fire.

As a result, 85 deaths have been confirmed so far, and 2 people have been rescued. The rest are missing. Jeonnam Fire Department noted that the situation has effectively shifted to a recovery phase.
