Fire authorities announced that the two survivors of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident at Muan Airport in South Jeolla Province on the morning of the 29th are both crew members, consisting of one male and one female.
According to fire authorities, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, which departed from Bangkok Airport in Thailand on the morning of the day, veered off the runway and collided with an outer fence while attempting to land at Muan Airport. A total of 181 people were on board, including six crew members, 173 Korean passengers, and two Thai passengers.
As of 12:41 p.m. on that day, it has been confirmed that 85 people have died in the accident. The two surviving injured individuals are both crew members, consisting of one male and one female. The victims are being placed in a temporary mortuary set up near the accident site.
Fire authorities assume that most of the remaining passengers, who are missing, have likely perished. During a briefing for the families of the passengers on that day, officials from the South Jeolla Fire Department explained, "After the collision with the fence, passengers were thrown out of the aircraft. The chances of survival are nearly nonexistent."
