A temporary morgue has been set up at Muan Airport in Jeonnam, where the Jeju Air passenger plane accident occurred.

The Jeonnam provincial government noted on the 29th at about 9:03 a.m. that it immediately activated the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to handle the accident and support the bereaved families. The Fire Department is responsible for on-site rescue and emergency care, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is in charge of investigating the cause and developing future measures, while the Korea Airports Corporation, along with the Jeonnam government and Muan County, is tasked with supporting the families.

A temporary morgue is currently operating at Muan Airport. Ninety-four bodies are being kept there. A waiting room for the bereaved families has been set up on the third floor of Muan Airport. The Jeonnam government has designated exclusive public officials to manage each family unit and intends to prepare temporary accommodations for family members in case of a prolonged situation. Volunteer centers have been opened at Muan International Airport and Mangun Elementary School.

The Jeonnam government has prepared 400 emergency relief kits, 1,500 blankets, 1,000 hot packs, and meals for 800 people for the bereaved families. The government plans to set up a joint incense altar at Muan Sports Park.
