South Jeolla Province activated the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 29th to address the passenger plane accident at Muan International Airport.

South Jeolla Province promptly responded to the accident with the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters led by Kim Young-rok, the governor of South Jeolla.

Governor Kim visited the accident site to lead the recovery efforts and instructed the formation of 13 task forces for support.

The South Jeolla Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters dispatched staff to Muan International Airport and Mokpo Hospital, where the injured were transported.

At approximately 9:07 a.m. that day, Jeju Air flight 7C2216 veered off the runway while landing at Muan Airport and crashed into a fence.

It has been determined that 28 people have died due to the fire that occurred after the collision.
