Actor Han So-hee's mother received a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, in the first trial for charges related to operating an illegal gambling establishment.
According to the legal community on the 25th, Judge Kim Do-hyeong of the Chuncheon District Court's Wonju Branch Criminal Division sentenced Shin (55), who faces charges of opening venues for gambling, to this decision and ordered 120 hours of community service.
Shin is accused of operating seven illegal gambling venues from January 2022 to August this year in five locations in Wonju, Gangwon, one in Ulsan, and one in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. It was investigated that Shin set up adult PC game rooms under the guise of being a 'puppet president' for revenue sharing or colluded with operators of adult PC game rooms to allow customers to engage in online gambling such as baccarat.
Judge Kim stated, “The defendant conspired with multiple game room operators to create gambling venues,” adding, “Given the operational structure of the game rooms, it appears that the defendant's acquired profits are also considerable.” The prosecution has appealed against the verdict.
