On Christmas Day, the 25th, cold air will descend on the Korean Peninsula, bringing a fierce cold wave. There is no forecast for snow or rain, making a white Christmas unlikely.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, on the morning of the 23rd, the lowest temperature will range from minus 15 degrees Celsius to 1 degree Celsius, with the highest daytime temperature reaching 2 to 10 degrees. Key regional temperatures include Seoul (minus 6 degrees - 4 degrees), Daejeon (minus 4 degrees - 6 degrees), Gwangju (minus 2 degrees - 7 degrees), Daegu (minus 2 degrees - 8 degrees), and Busan (0 degrees - 10 degrees). The Korea Meteorological Administration said, "It will be very cold as the morning temperature will drop to around minus 10 degrees, especially in central inland areas, Gangwon mountains, and Gyeongbuk inland. Please be cautious of slip-and-fall accidents on icy roads or overpasses, and pay attention to alleys or sloped roads."
On Christmas Eve (the 24th), the morning's lowest temperature is forecasted to be between minus 13 degrees Celsius to 2 degrees Celsius, with the highest daytime temperature ranging from 1 to 10 degrees. On Christmas Day (the 25th), the morning's lowest temperature is expected to be between minus 10 degrees Celsius and 3 degrees Celsius. The highest daytime temperature will range from 3 to 11 degrees.
The Korean Peninsula is generally clear as it is influenced by a continental anticyclone moving southward from northern China. As cold air moves south, clouds are expected to form over the western sea due to the temperature difference between the atmosphere and the sea. In areas like Chungnam and Jeonbuk, there might be light raindrops (less than 0.1 mm) or snow flurries (0.1 cm) until late afternoon. The weather will be clear on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with only Jeju experiencing raindrops on the 26th.
