On the 21st, which is the winter solstice, most areas across the country will experience rain or snow, mostly clearing up by the afternoon. As of 7 a.m., a heavy snow advisory has been issued in various parts of the country including Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Muju in North Jeolla, and Yesan in South Chungcheong.
According to the Korea meteorological Administration, heavy and dense snow of 1–3 cm per hour is expected in central regions (excluding the east coast of Gangwon) and eastern North Jeolla from the early morning to the early hours. Morning low temperatures are forecasted between -5 and 4 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 1 and 9 degrees Celsius.
The expected snowfall from the 20th to the 21st is ▲Ulleungdo and Dokdo 10–30 cm ▲Jeju Island's mountainous areas 5–15 cm ▲southern inland Gangwon, central and southern mountainous areas of Gangwon, eastern North Jeolla 3–10 cm ▲southern and northeastern Gyeonggi, northern North Chungcheong 3–8 cm.
Seoul and the metropolitan area, central and northern inland Gangwon, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang regions are expected to receive 1–5 cm of snow, while Daegu and southern central inland North Gyeongsang and central inland South Gyeongsang will see around 1 cm of snow flurries. Other areas are expected to have around 5 mm of rain.
The country will be mostly cloudy, but it will gradually clear up from the night in central regions and the southern Gyeongsang area. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'bad' in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon Yeongseo, Sejong, and North Chungcheong, with other areas at 'moderate'.
Most areas of the country will experience strong winds with gusts exceeding 15 meters per second.
